Wild Life Of A Little Monster

Others are scared of me because of all the fun I have. Considered a vigilante by my Eponine.

Love Connection

YvesHave been super busy lately with work projects. Was in Jefferson City (Missouri's capital city) Friday working with "power brokers" trying to get things done. Headed to D.C. Monday. The day I came home from my last D.C. trip was the first time I thought Ep seemed under the weather.

Did take a moment Thursday night to stop by Wayside Waifs to visit creatures potentially wanting to pick me. Was hoping to see "Doc," a tuxedo boy that a friend of a friend found recently but couldn't keep for a variety of reasons including an older female cat not welcoming of a little brother. As luck would have it, though, Doc was taken to the vet that day for "alteration" and had not made it back to the shelter. I'll go by to visit him this weekend, I hope.

AllyThe number of cars in the parking lot was impressive. The volume of older cats waiting for adoption was sad. There were only 7 kittens. To say the scene did not mess with my emotions would be a lie. Only once did I see my tears splash on the concrete. But I toughened and then hugged, petted, heard purrs, received head butts, and got some awesome sand paper kisses. The zippers on my coat consistently proved popular.

TexThere was a three-legged boy (Yves) that hugged me tightly, a little girl that kept staring intently (Ally), and a little boy (Tex) that required me to play nonstop. Also a little girl (Keena) that had tears in her eyes that seemed to soothe my own. But nothing seemed like a for sure "connection." It might take a while, but it's a start!

As for comments on the Jan. 11 post, you're all right. I need to be owned, I feel lonely, my heart wants that companion, and there's no sure fire solution/path/time frame. I'm confident Ep will help me to know when I am picked by the perfect monster.

I have to admit - I did not get that initial "this kitty wants me" feeling with any of the three we have now. I even felt I'd made a mistake soon after adopting each of them - because I was so used to Heather, and none of them acted like her! But I've come to love all three - strangely enough, especially the two I was least sure about! Turtle hid under the bed for over TWO WEEKS after I brought her home (my vet had found her and she needed a home). Moose was a complete wiener, lots of biting, etc. Now he's 10 months old and getting to be a lover. Nala was the only one I felt "wanted" me when I went to choose a kitty friend for Turtle, and she's attached to my youngest son but doesn't give a flip about me, lol.

The moral: you never know! When you think you're ready... just close your eyes and jump. We're all behind you!

That's good to know, Tammara. At first, I was disappointed one just didn't reach out to grab me. It was like I was looking for signs. I likely was looking too hard. Just just never know.

sss&mom - your support is very much appreciated. I still feel so looney in this whole situation.

Sanjee - don't ever go walking alone. You just might get kidnapped! Just kidding. It is hard. Made me miss my monster something fierce. But it also was so nice to hang out with some friends.

Yep, we are all behind you. Your heart will tell you when it is right. That first step, just even going there was hard. Made you miss your little monster even more.

But good things will happen. Mum has saying she likes. "love as though you've never been hurt". Hard to do but true. Someday love will come again.

Oh, Cowboy, we are furry happy! We know Eponine will help you find your true kitty (or kitties). Mom laughed at your post about her not feeling well; that maybe she was pregnant! We are her kids now, the three girls...besides Mom says she is TOO OLD!!!

Oh Cowboy, you are never alone with all of us furry friends out here for you. Mom said that if she could afford the plane ticket, she would fly out there now and bring that 3 legged kitty home to us. But you will know when it is right. In the mean time, we're all here for you.

Edsel-I'll be sure to give you an update on the tuxedo guy as soon as I can. You wouldn't happen to be partial, would you?

You have a very wise Mom, Derby. That advice is very much needed.

You never know, Patches. Your mom just might be a spring chicken! She said she was queasy. There very well might be a bun in the oven!

Yves is a pretty awesome looking cat. I bet he would be an fantastic addition to the Meezer home. Or even to the home of a Cowboy. No telling!

Hi Cowboy - that is a lovely post - and adorable pictures. I hope all those fluffies find forever homes.

Don't push your 'connection'. Eppy will send you a fluffie when the time is right. She is watching over you now, waiting for the right moment and the right kitty....

you'll know when it's right. and even if it takes a few more visits for the right one to pick you, at least you're getting to share some love with the kitties there who need lots of love until they find the right one to pick.

I didn't pick my People and they didn't really pick me. When I was still very little I was living with friends of the Younger Human, and they couldn't take care of me and were going to take me to a shelter, so the Woman told the Younger Human to bring me to live with them.

They weren't sure it was going to work out at all. They had a dog and I was really afraid of him, and the dog just wanted to play with me.

But pretty soon...everything just clicked.

Buddah didn't pick the People, either. He was to busy being a crackhead and playing with the kitty litter in his box when the Younger Human spotted him. So I think the Younger Human did the picking...Buddah was playful and he liked that. And he needed a home.

So maybe it's not always about being picked. Maybe sometimes it's being hugged by a kitty. Maybe t's thinking this kitty needs a home, You'll know when you need to know.

My first was being dumped by his owners when I took him in. He still doesn't like me (he dislikes all women)- the only person he loves with the Gigolo. But I can't imagine life without him. Don't be afraid to be the picker this time:)

You're right about that connection, cq.

Amy-there's so many cats at the shelter I can't believe it. I'm thinking of volunteering and just making it a point to hang out from time to time.

You provide such superb advice, max. How did you become such a wise cat? (How's Buddah's crack problem now?)

I agree. Doing the picking is not all bad, GK.
