Memories
This same week in 1996, according to The Kansas City Star, gasoline prices in this area reached a five-year high by averaging $1.17 for a gallon of unleaded.
Monday night every station I passed on my 23-mile commute was at $2.59. This morning they each were at $2.73.
That 100-mile-per-galloon scooter is looking more and more attractive!

$2.81 here at lunch, five cents overnight...and we're an oil and gas producing state. This torques my mom off.
$2.89 here in the oil capital!
Most places are $2.79 around here. Mom thought she did good when she paid $2.75 this morning.
I saw mostly $2.71 on my way home tonight. But this evening's news reports higher prices are on the way.
I'm going to look at riding the bus, working a day from home, or something. I also need to decide what to cut from the budget in order to afford these gas prices.
It's always something!
William, Bat & Bandit, Mia and Ghost-You all sure are lucky that you don't have to buy gasoline!
Hey, Cowboy - gas went from the $2.75 to $2.89 overnight. One place had the lowest grade at $2.95 this morning... I can't take bus but do try to work from house at least one day a week but had to go to meeting yesterday on my wfh day.
