Two Updates
The lowest price witnessed tonight was $2.54. That's a welcome sight for sore eyes. If only it would go just a bit lower. Surely, the oil companies are still going to make a big profit even at this level. Aren't they? I'm all for essential services making money. As long as I can still afford to do what I want, when I want and not spend all my buckaroos filling up the tank. OK, enough of that soap box.
Well, Phoenix is still there. A while back I thought he was being 'dopted. After the long conversation I had with that one lady, I was certain she clearly said she was taking him home. She was filling out his paperwork as I sat next to her.
A check just two minutes ago shows Phoenix still leaning over that shoulder on the Wayside Waifs site. I sure hope he picks someone soon.

even before i read the other comments, i was going to suggest that perhaps he had picked YOU.
Sometimes things work out the way they do for a reason.
not to be pushy or anything, but i went back & looked at the pic of phoenix, and, well, he's ORANGE . . . just like your cowboy namesakes. an omen, perhaps?

I still have to promise nothing. I get so sad reading about the Meezers losing Trixie. I just don't know if I can handle a loss and Phoenix is an older cat. But, he is "orange," he has great blue eyes, and sometimes love has to be resurrected, like coming out of the ashes. I'm not ruling it out and, in addition to watching college football games on tv, have visiting Wayside on the "Cowboy's Jobs" list for the Labor Day weekend.
cowboy, i bawled my eyes out reading about trixie, but i still don't regret getting the boys after scruffy died. well, at least not except when they're being really, really bad! sounds like you have a great weekend panned. enjoy football!
